Legionella Remediation From R2J

A gloved hand holds a vial with the word "legionella" written on the label.

Unfortunately, Legionella outbreaks are becoming more common in facilities throughout Florida, including the Tampa Bay area of Florida. This means that it’s more important than ever for property owners and managers to take the proper precautions to prevent the development of Legionella. At R2J, we understand how crucial proper risk assessment, testing, and Legionella remediation are to keeping a building’s occupants safe. Rest assured, we have the experience and training necessary to accurately detect and treat this potentially deadly pathogen.

Our Approach to Legionella Remediation

R2J has a proven process, refined over our more than 35 years in business, that ensures effective results for our clients. To this end, we’ve established partnerships with leading laboratories to provide testing with unparalleled accuracy and efficiency.

Legionella testing is a critical first step in the process. We first need to know exactly what we’re dealing with before we can customize an effective Legionella remediation and management plan. If our team detects unsafe levels of Legionella bacteria in your water, the first step will be to perform a comprehensive Legionella remediation through disinfection. Taking into account factors such as your building’s engineering specifications and local plumbing codes, we’ll design a disinfection solution that will make your potable water system safe for occupants.

Keeping Legionella at Bay

When it comes to Legionella, the best offense is a good defense. Starting in 2016, the CDC began directing building owners to use water management programs (WMPs) to prevent outbreaks. This recommendation has only become stronger since the COVID-19 pandemic, during which many buildings were left vacant and, therefore, more vulnerable to developing unsafe levels of Legionella.

At R2J, we proudly utilize Legionella Assessment and Management Plan Support (LAMPS®), a cloud-based software solution for effectively monitoring and managing the risk of Legionella and other waterborne pathogens. Using LAMPS, R2J is able to create robust water management programs for our clients that are fully customized to their buildings and in compliance with local and federal regulations. Additionally, this solution allows us to provide clear reporting on the efficacy of our Legionella remediation and prevention programs.

SANIKILL Monochloramine Disinfection System

R2J uses the SANIKILL monochloramine disinfection system for continuous treatment, ensuring protection from Legionella over the long term. The Sanikill System is designed to produce, dose, and monitor monochloramine into a water system. Designed and patented for use on domestic hot water systems to prevent the colonization of waterborne pathogens such as Legionella, monochloramine is more effective than other disinfectants due to its stability. This stability allows monochloramine to penetrate biofilms without damaging the plumbing.
